Hello Everybody!
A couple of weeks ago we had our annual accident simulation day. This is always a big event for us. There is lots of preparation for setup and all the ride leaders need to have their first aid training current prior to.
For the second year in a row, it was held in conjunction with Endless Biking and centered at their location adjacent to Seylynn Park. It was an incredible day.
We divided up into groups and cycled through a five different scenarios. In each case, we just "happened" upon an incident and had to deal with it. There was no prior knowledge of what each scenario might contain for injuries and it was very realistic in the sense that we were on the ground dealing with all the environmental concerns that would normally affect a situation.
The scenarios were so realistic that two people made 911 calls thinking they were witnessing a real emergency.
As always, a big shoutout for Nick at Maple Ridge First Aid who assembled the first-aid instructors and all the other volunteers required for the scenarios. Thanks also to Endless Biking who hosted the event.
